The history of Thearo In the very beginning, there were only commonfolk, dwarven, and elven. It's said they were placed at the base of cloudreach mountain by Theatis, himself. From there they scattered across the lands. The races tended to band only with themselves, which often led to conflicts. Eventually these races formed the first nations, known as Isbrien, Fysilva, and Seinos. Isbrien was, and still is to this day, ruled by the dwarven, and they claimed cloudreach mountain, the ashridge mountains, and what is now known as the gemstone tundra for their own. Fysilva was ruled by the elven, who laid claim to what is now known as the wildlands. Lastly, Seinos was ruled by the commonfolk, who claimed the lands now called zephyr plains and sunglow woods. These nations often fought with one another, warring over little more than opinions and biases. However, there was no death, so those that fell in battle would simply be taken away from the battlefield and awaken several days or weeks later. Then the other gods began arriving and changing the world. First, there came Zalikos. He introduced magic to the world, breaking rules set by the creator, Theatis, and causing chaos. The plants and creatures of Fysilva were so wildly influenced by this magic that the elven were forced to leave behind their towns and homes. Some sought refuge in the lands of Isbrien and Seinos, but a large portion of them followed the river that eventually led them safely to the other side of the sands, to a place only previously rumored to exist, which they named the coast of new dawns. There they founded a new nation: Auron. Around the same time, the crystals that would later give the gemstone tundra it's name began to sprout in Isbrien, and then the ruinne began to appear, travelling down from the mountain just as the three other races before them. With the ruinne came the dragons, serpents, and wyverns, which all travelled from the mountain on their own and found places to their liking where they lived from then on. It was the incendium wyverns, specifically, that wiped out a significant population of dwarven as they laid claim to the ashridge mountains and pushed the survivors out. The other draconoids, as they are sometimes called, typically found places where no other creatures resided at the time. Most of the other races were quick to resent the ruinne, as they were a part of the new changes that had all but taken over the entire world and completely disrupted how it functioned. Many of the ruinne ended up forming their own towns and cities, where they hid behind magical barriers and thrived in the new magical landscape. They called themselves the nation of Fozinth, but they only claimed small areas as their own, far from the other nations in order to protect themselves. In order to stay connected they'd use magic to communicate amongst eachother and had multiple leaders which formed a council that governed the populace. The largest of their settlements was atop a large sea stack just off of whitestone shores, which would later become known as the city of Lior. The third deity to shape Thearo was Niskia. She brought with her death, rebirth, and the purgatory known as the void. Death was a new concept on Thearo, and one that quickly became feared throughout the world. Many may have resented Zalikos for his changes, but Niskia was the first deity to be feared world-wide. Wars became practically nonexistent for many years. Niskia would also create nachtkrapps, the last remaining undying creature on Thearo, as well as dousunds, though she wouldn't create dousunds until many years after the fourth and fifth deities had influenced the world. The fourth and fifth deities arrived together; They were Telmira and Pyranna. Telmira would bring both deceit and justice, while Pyranna brought love and empathy. They gave the creatures of Thearo new concepts such as secrets, empathy, apathy, loyalty, betrayal, and justice, which would inevitably bring war and pain back to the world, but also love and hope. Telmira would also create the first sirens during this time. The sixth deity was Boreas. He brought curiosity to the world, which gave the humanoids of Thearo a sense of unity that they originally only shared through those of the same race as themselves. It was through this curiosity that knowledge began being shared, both fact and fiction alike. The races of the world began travelling and getting along better, mingling amongst eachother peacefully for the first time since the creation of Thearo. The ruinne even put down their barriers for the first time and allowed other races into their towns and cities. It was this change in Thearo that would lead to the creation of the Council of Kings and later the introduction of the prince of Seinos and the princess of Fozinth, which would lead to the creation of Fosinos through the joining of their two nations. However, many commonfolk would cling to their prejudice and biases, leaving Seinos and eventually finding their way to Auron, where they would raid elven towns and one day take over the capital. Some dwarven would attempt to do the same, leaving Isbrien as it's king joined the Council of Kings. It was the stubborn queen who would take try to take back her homelands from the incendium wyverns that took it, but an earthquake, followed by a rockslide took out a large portion of her followers, and the wyverns would later wipe out all of them. This would leave Isbrien with only half of it's total population since the draconoids were first introduced to Thearo. Arvyros was the seventh deity. He made many plants and creatures which filled the wilderness with new life. The once quiet lands now sung with the noises of all sorts of untamed creatures and the vibrant colors of flowers became a new but welcome sight in the world. However, not all of Arvyros' additions were good. Many of his new plants and animals were dangerous. Along with pleasantly chirping crickets and beautiful flowers came bears, worryx, boggarts, as well as venomous and poisonous things, which had not existed in the world before Arvyros. He also created the manticores, who are known for having a rather "feral" nature to them. The eighth and final deity to bring change to Thearo was Geist. Her influence was relatively minor compared to the deities that came before her, but she gave the gift of games and joy to the humanoids of Thearo. She also made birds and would later create the aven by giving some commonfolk wings. |
