Enchantment Casting This spellcasting style is used by carefully and meticulously threading magic into an object or being. It is most commonly used on objects rather than beings, however, due to the dangers it poses to the one receiving such a spell. Spells cast using this style are called enchantments. It takes a lot of time and effort to cast any enchantment, but many have devoted their lives to the craft simply because it is profitable to sell items with enchantments on them. The more complex an enchantment, the harder it is to thread into an object or being. Enchantments placed upon beings are referred to as curses and are illegal in many nations, including Fosinos, Isbrien, and Auron. This spellcasting style relies on the caster having some sort of stored magic already at their disposal, meaning one must either have a natural connection to Zalikos' realm or have used some other means to gather magic first, such as how an instrumental caster may gather magic within a vessel. Enchantments can be just about anything, but ones that have simple functions, such as conjuring water inside an enchanted pitcher, are much more common due to them being easier and more desirable to a larger variety of customers. Of course, unless the enchanted object has a magic-gathering vessel embedded into it, the enchantment will eventually run out of magic to fuel it and dissipate unless occasionally refueled externally by some other source. Some enchantments are designed to hold a very small amount of magic so that they never truly disappear, but after a certain point can no longer be used until it's refueled. Others are designed to be a one-use-only sort of deal, where it casts it's spell upon being triggered once and then can never be used again. |
